Philosophy

I believe that taking photos is a way of capturing history and I am passionate about alternative processing.

Style

Flowers, forests, ghost towns, decrepit graveyards and old doors and windows.

Technique

I expose, develop, and hand print using traditional darkroom methods for 35mm and 4x5 black & white film. Large format shots are done with an Ebony SV45TE field camera.

I produce digital negatives on Pictorico for platinum/palladium prints. The negatives are then used for alternative processes to create a print. I also have a Leonardo pinhole camera that I use Polaroid 55 film for the negative and then palladium print. I have the most fun when doing alternative process. It truly never gets old watching a print appear in the developer. It is pure magic to me.

Background

From an early age I would use my mother’s camera. I cannot remember a time that I did not take photographs. Having been raised in Hawai’i, there was never a shortage of beautiful shots to capture.

My formal education includes an ATA Paralegal degree, an AA in Liberal Arts, and I also graduated from Seattle University with a Bachelor of Arts in History.
